Smoothie Face Off
A few months ago, I did a 21 day cleanse, and had to remove a lot of things from my diet like dairy, gluten, soy, chocolate, and alcohol. The later two were probably the hardest to cut out. On this particular cleanse, I was restricted to two liquid meals a day (breakfast and dinner) and a regular meal at lunch. I wanted to have some variety to my liquid meals, so I challenged Susan to a smoothie Face Off.
I had to be creative about my about my chocolate craving, which meant lots of experimenting took place. I was super excited to find cacao powder during a trip to Whole Foods, and the Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie was born. The cacao powder works really well in a smoothie, and I can’t wait to try it in some of our baking recipes.
Susan’s take on the Pina Colada, the Chia Colada Smoothie helped as well. It is a great way to start or end your day. The coconut oil added a creaminess and amps up the coconut flavor. The chia seeds are not only really good for you, but they fill you up too! If you have never tried coconut milk, you should give it a whirl. As far as consistency goes, it is similar to skim milk. So if you are making the switch from dairy, its a good way to make the transition.
This Face Off was a way to get all my indulgence fixes and not breaking any cleanse rules. Both smoothies help you to get your daily dose of all-things nutritious, and they don’t taste too bad either!
