Big Shoulders Coffee
Dear Big Shoulders – Keep doing what you are doing. – Love Fried Tofu
I consider myself an occasional coffee drinker and I never imagined I would become obsessed with one kind of coffee, however, Big Shoulders has changed me. Morgan had heard good things about Big Shoulders Coffee (BSC) and it was only a matter of time before we would walk across the street from our Pilates studio to give it a try. Needless to say, we are now hooked.
One Sunday after Pilates class we stopped into Big Shoulders and were forever changed. We had never been there before so they recommended the slow drip coffee which is brewed with a Clever. It did take about 3-5 minutes for the coffee to brew, however it was well worth the wait and I would recommend you give it a try. It had a great flavor and for someone who never had the palette to tell the difference between one coffee or another, Big Shoulders sure found a way to stand out. I now drop in every time I am in the neighborhood and I am often sad when my late night Pilates class ends just in time for Big Shoulders to close up shop (tear). I love getting the slow drip when I have time, but for the days I am in a rush they offer a fast drip which is a great way to get their awesome coffee quick.
We were there on a Sunday when BSC was doing some roasting, which was great to observe live and smelled so very good. In their own words, Big Shoulders “offers a choice of four distinctive coffees and from time to time will also offer limited-time special feature coffees, single-origin from micro coffee producers and/or seasonal blends.”
Big Shoulders is located right off of the Chicago Blue Line stop at the Chicago & Milwaukee intersection. Stop in for the slow drip, stay for some pie, enjoy the people watching at a window seat, but most of all savor the best cup of coffee we have ever tried.
